When her parents are murdered before her eyes, sixteen-year-old Helen Cartwright finds herself launched into an underground London where a mysterious organization called the Dictata controls the balance of good and evil. Helen learns that she is one of three remaining angelic descendants charged with protecting the world's past, present, and future. Unbeknownst to her, she has been trained her whole life to accept this responsibility. Now, as she finds herself torn between the angelic brothers protecting her and the devastatingly handsome childhood friend who wants to destroy her, she must prepare to be brave, to be hunted, and above all to be strong, because temptation will be hard to resist, even for an angel.
A Powerful Temptation for Paranormal Romance Fans
With a highly engaging opening scene, A Temptation of Angels hooked me right from the beginning. However, this book wasn't what I was expecting. I adore angel mythology and I was expecting to see feathery winged beings all around and, unfortunately, this book didn't give me that. But! it did gave me an enjoyable read filled with different concepts and an Angel world I've never seen before.
The book opens with a full-of-action scene that hooked me from the very first page. However, after a few chapters the plot slowed down. Yet, it is during this quietness of the plot that the characters start to connect with each other and the relationships and romantic drama started to grow. Also, I really liked the Intriguing and interesting concepts of the keepers, the Dictata and the Legion that this book has to offer. Michelle Zink certainly created a whole new world which I'd love too learn more about because, by the end of the book, I still had many question regarding these concepts and I wish Zink had offered more details and historical background about the world she created.
The story is narrated in third person but we stick with Helen's point of view during the whole book. This give gave me a closer look to Helen's feelings for her two love interests as well as more empathy with this character. I loved that Michelle Zink didn't use first person. This is my first Michelle Zink book and I really enjoyed the way she fluently and eloquently narrates from this point of view. Needless to say that it is also a refreshing perspective for a paranormal novel. In addition, I love the love triangle and I think this is definitely a highlight of the plot! Helen, Griffin and Raum definitely enriched the story with a powerful romantic drama! Yet, I must confess that I am not team Griffin at all. I am Team Raum! Oh yes, regardless the things he has done, I forgive him and I am willing to believe that he will become a better person (I hope there is a sequel) Also, I believe that Raum is not just a great, mysterious and very tempting characters, but also a very complex one that I'd love to see grow in the future. In the other hand, Griffin is already such a good boy and even though I like him, he doesn't intrigue me as much as Raum does.
Set in an enchanting historical London, Michelle Zink manages to build-up a captivating atmosphere. Yet, the exact time period is no really stated but it seems to be around the 19th century. Ballrooms, long dresses plus the romantic setting certainly create a very alluring place for readers to dive in.
Regardless all the things I like about this book, A Temptation of Angels is not the best angel book I have read. Yet, A Temptation of Angels is filled with drama and a lot of delicious romance that will certainly be a breathtaking read for all paranormal romance fans!

I am so dumb! I thought this was part of Michelle's Prophecy of the Sisters series. Gah, *headdesk*. I'm happy to hear that you liked this book, Natalia! The characters sound great and the setting definitely sounds awesome. And of course, I love a great romance! Sorry there wasn't too much angel lore in this book. Nevertheless, amazing review, Natalia! :)
Ooooh I can't wait to read this one! It looks so good! Great review :))
Hm, an angel book where the angels disappoint? o_O Still, I'm glad you still enjoyed it overall. I've had this for awhile, will probably leaf through it at some point. Enchanted London sounds like it'd be fun!

Lovely Review!! I enjoyed this one too but agree with the points you mentioned apart from Raum. I didn't get the addition of a Love Triangle but seeing you talking about him makes me reconsider... I really liked Griffin and I wouldn't like to see him hurt!
Oh and I definitely hope for more Angel lore in the next book!
@Danny: Me too! I wanted to see Seraphines, archangels, silky feathers and stuff but there was nothing of it. Sniff. Yet I still enjoyed it but I definitely wouldn't call this book an Angel book. It doesn't feel like it.
@Wendy: If you are expecting Angels the way I was, then yup. Zink's Angels are very different from those we are more familiar with. The book of Enoch/Bible.
GAHHHH!!! TT _ TT
I'm dying to read this book! Awesome review, thanks for sharing it!!! <3 "Eloquently", haha! Love that word! ^_^ I'm glad you liked Michelle Zink's books, to be honest, I don't know what to expect because I've read her PofS trilogy all in first person... Anyhow, this one sounds promising (well, of course! It's Michelle Zink!!), I'm going to buy it when it comes out ^_^

Aww, you make me wish there's more lore in it as well. It's great with lots of romance, but it shouldn't be on the cost of that! But, I admit I'm very curious about the story as a whole (and the love triangle, lol) so I might just have to pick it up. o: Great review!
Oooh! I want this book! ;)
Great review like always and I'm glad to know you enjoyed it. Now I know I can buy it.
I like it when authors write about Angels in a different way than we're used to by now with the huge wave of YA books with Angels.
Lovely review Mimi I've been really iffy about angel books they very rarely impress me so I doubt I'll get into this one. It does sound unique at least. You rock my face MIMI!!! <3 you!
BAHA I totally called you Mimi didn't I? I was just coming from her blog. LOVE YOU NATALIA!!!
I loved her trilogy and I can't wait for this book ^^ Thanks for the review!
Giselle: buahahhhah!! it's okay! I love Mimi too and I love you too so we all love each other and we are all happy XDD muah! LOL
Oh, Natalia! AMAZING review, as ALWAYS! I am SO intrigued about these angels who don't... actually seem to be angels? No wings? CURIOUS! And I'm REALLY digging the NOT third person! I just finished Daughter of Smoke and Bone and LOVED it, partly for that reason! Fab!
